Company history

1960s

1968  David Cooper was commissioned to carry out a project to design a grass cutter for a farming enterprise, Bobbingdon Estates Limited. A new building was constructed at Rydal Farm to accomodate the manufacture/engineering work.

1966 ARM used its manufacturing facilities to produce items on a sub-contract basis for many companies, the most notable was Sisis Equipment Ltd which manufactures a range of horticultural equipment. This continued until 2002.

A private limited company, Castellan Engineering Ltd was taken over by ARM.

The ARM Roundhouse was developed to house pigs. The Mark I was 38 feet in diameter with a perimeter passageway which provided access to the pigs. Wedge shaped adjustable sized pens accommodated pigs varying in size from weaner to finishing.

1965 An automatic opening and closing rear door for silage trailers was designed and built by David Cooper.

ARM commissioned by Banks Brewery to design a barrel conveyor for use in their local branches. The design had to accommodate wood and metal barrels and incorporated a braking device to prevent the barrels smashing into the buffers.

1962
A Cascade Grain Drier was designed and built by David Cooper.

1960

ARM started designing and manufacturing pig equipment including individual sow feeders, sow stalls and farrowing crates.
